The classic children’s play “Hansel and Gretel”, directed by Peter Welch, will be performed Saturday June 21st at 2:00 pm at the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center in Wautoma. The show includes characters such as the troll, a talking owl, a forest sprite, hobgoblins, the sandman, gingerbread cookies, the witch, family members, and of course Hansel and Gretel. Featured in the cast of entirely local youth are: Ellen Hetcher, Morgan Hughes, Zachary Kubasta, Wes Hetcher, Nick Surprise, Anna Eisch, Delaney Brown, Dakota Gunderson, Samuel Colon, Keara Wahlstrom, Natalie Galster, Danielle Wheaton, Margaret Johnson, Emma Hetcher, Gus Hetcher, Alyssa Kuhnke, Aaron Alfertig, Jordan Gustke, Taylor Rivers, Kiki Marie Nameg, Alexa Gravunder, Maddie Nonnan, Elizabeth Meek, Megan Dresbach, Cassey Middleton, Ashley Narem, and Nicole Basse.
Mr. Welch, currently a theatre arts major at Lawrence University, said he was impressed with the youth who auditioned and is looking forward to working with a talented and energetic cast. Area volunteers will be assisting with the rehearsals and technical elements of the show. The play is being presented by the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center thanks to funding made available by the Heart of Wisconsin United Way and The Oberreich Foundation and produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc.
Plan ahead for a family outing to enjoy this classic children’s tale and recognize local performers. Tickets will available beginning June 16th at the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center located at 514 S. Cambridge St., Wautoma. The box office will be open Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, and from 12:00 until show time the day of the show. Finally, we are excited about the variety of performances featured in our upcoming 2008-09 season.
